This week I have a very important plan. I want to go to the hair salon to donate my hair to women who have breast cancer. I have already contacted ”Alma Zois” and I have been informed about what I have to do with my hair.
The Panhellenic Association of Women with Breast Cancer, ”Alma Zois”, is a non-profit society and was founded in 1988 by women who had personally experienced breast cancer. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that all its members of the Board of Directors are women with breast cancer experience.
The objectives-aims of the association are peer support, psychosocial support of both the sick woman and the members of her family and informing the female population nationwide about breast cancer and methods of prevention-early diagnosis and quality patient care.
Currently, the association consists of: 1500 members, 150 trained volunteers, 20 members of the Scientific Committee, 7 members of the Board of Directors and 7 professionals. Finally, the services of the association, apart from in Athens, are provided in Patra and Thessaloniki to help more and more women in Greece.
I try to help as much as I can and I have mentioned it to all my friends. Moreover, I have decided to cut my hair every year as it grows really fast and every time I am going to donate it, hoping to give bright smiles to these women who have a great need for it!
